Day 3 - London

Today we used the tube again to get into the city.  We went around to the London Eye for our birdseye view of London.
The circuit takes just over 30 mins to go the whole way around and each pod slowly rotates in the wheel so that you have an unimpeded view the whole way.  It was amazing to see the city spread out below us and to try and recognise buildings from the air.
From there we got on a red open top bus and headed around to the Tower Pier to do a cruise of the Thames.  It was great to see the buildings from yet another aspect.. although it was a sunny day in London and we were all rather hot and sweaty by the time we got back to the wharf.
We got back on the red bus and heaed around to Buckingham Palace where we checked out the royal balcony, the amazing ornate gates and fences and the palace guards.  Tasha tried calling out to them and asking them to be her friend but alas no-one took her up on her offer ~L~.
This was a very special momnet for me.... 14 years ago my Mum stood in the exact same spot I was in today.  I have a photo of her at home standing just outside the Buckingham Palace gates.  She was so disappointed when she found out we were expecting our second child whilst she would be overseas and was very excited to get the phone call in England to tell her she had a grand-daughter.

Visiting Buckingham Palace was something I really wanted to do and was quite an emotional time as I stood and thought of Mum (one of many of those moments that I am sure will happen over this trip)
We walked back up through the gardens to the train station and in the middle of Buckingham Park Tasha made some new friends.  They are so tame and if you sit down they walk right up to you.
Todays Tally:
