Day 16 - Salisbury

We had another amazing day stepping back in time today.  I had heard so much about the Roman Baths in the town of Bath and again it was somewhere that Mum had visited so I was very excited to head off to Bath today - so back on the train we went!

The town of Bath totally blew me away.  I wish we had more than one day to explore it!  I mistakenly thought that it was just the baths, abbey and a few older buildings.  The whole town is like a living history trip.  It is simply amazing.  If you ever get the chance you must make the trip to Bath - it is so worth it.

Once again we jumped on an open topped sightseeing bus for a look around town and to get our bearings.

From the vantage point of the top of the bus the kids spotted a putt putt golf course so we jumped off and went and had a game - I had been promising the kids a round of putt putt if we found a course.  We had so much fun - Tasha tried to cheat by blowing her ball further and we met a squirrel who came along to wath the golf!
From there we headed into the main part of town and the rroman baths.  The baths were awe-inspiring.  Those romans were some clever people!  As part of admission you get an audio guide which provides so much information and you feel like you really get an understanding of life in the early years of the baths.  The thing I liked about this audio guide is that they had seperate info numbers for adults and children... so as you went around you typed in the number that was displayed and listented to appropriate information.

The history and the ingenuity in this place really is unexplainable.  We spent hours here and could have spent many more.
As I said I wish we had more time to truly explore Bath and would recommend it as a must see for any travellers.  Before we went back to the train station we went for a trip on the 2nd sightseeing bus which goes up into the hills overlooking Bath and gives you another perspective on this remarkable town.

Todays tally:

Amount of times the word cheat was spoken: at least 10
Time spent on trains:  2 hours (one hour each way)
