Day 14 - Salisbury

It was with great sadness we said goodbye to Moorland Hotel this morning.  The staff there have been wonderful and it has been great seeing Patty again.

I meant to stop and get photos of the hotel before we left but the weather wasn't the best and we jumped straight on the bus to escape the wind and rain so I "borrowed" some pics from their website to show the lovely place we stayed!

It is only a short rive from Plymouth which is a much bigger town than I expected but it feels like you are out in the middle of the country - as I previously said sheep, goats and even horses wandering around.  The motel itself has a resident rooster and a couple of horses who provide the sound effects to make you feel like civilisation is a far distant thing.  Nothing like the whinny of a horse to bring back memories of childhood!

Anyway we got back on the bus for another trip down those narrow roads to Plymouth.  Then we jumped on a train to head to Salisbury.
It has beena long day of doing nothing but sitting but we were still all worn out by the time we arrived so we got a taxi to the guest house rather than walking.  I am glad we did - it was only a 1 mile walk but it was all up hill.
We were met by Steve who was full of information on how to get around etc and after a short rest we walked downhill to town to find somewhere for dinner.  Unfortunately that meant we had to walk back up the hill after dinner.  Even though the incline is quite steep and constant the walk wasn't too bad  (luckily - we have to do it a few times over the next couple of days!)

Todays tally -
Steps taken 9086
Time spent on public transport -  almost 4 hours
(55 minutes on bus.  1 hour on first train.  1 hour 50 mins on 2nd train)
Sore toes - 2
(1 Tasha's - 1 Cath's)
